Challenge
Create a cohesive and elevated visual identity for Gardner-Webb University’s Alumni department, the 1905 Legacy Society and the Founders Day event. The goal was to honor the university’s history and founders while engaging modern audiences and prospective donors. The design system needed to convey heritage, tradition, and trust, while feeling contemporary and unified across invitations, direct mail, historical building identifier plaques, commemorative medals, and event collateral.
Create a cohesive and elevated visual identity for Gardner-Webb University’s Alumni department, the 1905 Legacy Society and the Founders Day event. The design system needed to convey heritage, tradition, and trust, while feeling contemporary and unified across invitations, direct mail, historical building identifier plaques, commemorative medals, and event collateral.
Solution
Developed a classic yet refined visual system anchored in historical references, including archival imagery of the original Boiling Springs campus. Designed Founders Day invitations with vintage postcard aesthetics and custom typography evocative of early 20th-century signage. Crafted historical building plaques, medals, and lapel pins featuring engraved illustrations of the landmark structure. For the 1905 Legacy Society campaign, applied a clean, structured grid system, black-and-white photography, and a signature deep red palette to unify print, mail pieces, brochures, and donor materials. Expanded the identity into digital channels with social media graphics that balanced nostalgia with timeless sophistication, ensuring the campaign reached audiences across all platforms.
